Research interests:

Head of the Department of microbial ecology and of the Laboratory of environmental and food microbiology at Institute of Molecular Biology, Slovak Academy of Sciences. He is the founder of this laboratory, which studies microbial diversity in various kinds of environmental and food samples. He contributed to the development of various PCR-based methods for detection of pathogens and allergens in food and for food authentication. He has co-operated, in frames of various international projects, with recognized universities and research institutes such as University of Messina; University of Bologna; Tor Vergata University Rome; Institute of Microbiology and Genetics of the University of Vienna; Department of Biotechnology, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences of Vienna; University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague and Lodz University of Technology, Poland.
